Cookie Policy

Last updated

This policy lists every cookie and piece of browser storage AutoCap uses, what each one is for and how long it lasts, and how to change your choice at any time.

What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Sites can also save information in browser storage: localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, and the Cache Storage a service worker uses. This policy covers all of them. Some are needed for the site to work; others are optional.

The short version

  • Strictly necessary cookies and storage keep you signed in, remember your cookie choice and your country, and keep your projects’ video files on your device.
  • Preference storage remembers choices you make, like your currency or that you’ve finished the editor tour. It stays on your device.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics) is optional. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — or when we can’t tell where you are — it only runs if you choose “Accept analytics”. Everywhere else it’s on unless you turn it off or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
  • We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t sell your data.

Your choice, and how to change it

Where we need your consent, a banner at the bottom of the page asks for it on your first visit. “Reject” and “Accept analytics” are given equal weight, and “Preferences” lets you choose in more detail. Nothing optional is switched on before you choose.

We save your choice for 6 months, in a cookie (ac_consent) and in your browser’s storage (autocap.consent). After that — or if we change this policy in a way that affects your choice — we ask again.

You can change your mind at any time. If you turn analytics off, we stop Google Analytics and delete its cookies from our site.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a “no” to analytics, unless you switch analytics on yourself in the settings above.

Strictly necessary

These make the site and the editor work, so they don’t need consent. You can block them in your browser, but signing in and reopening projects won’t work.

Preferences

These remember choices you make. They’re only set when you use the feature they belong to, stay on your device, and aren’t used to track you, so they don’t need consent either.

Analytics (optional)

We use Google Analytics, provided by Google, to count visits and understand which pages are useful. It only runs as described in Your choice. It isn’t used for advertising: our tag switches off Google signals and ad personalization, and every advertising-related consent signal stays off.

Advertising

We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our pages include a Google AdSense verification tag — a line of text that confirms we own the site. It doesn’t load ads or set cookies. If we ever show ads, we’ll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Cookies set by other companies

If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google’s sign-in page may set its own cookies on Google’s website. When you pay, our payment processor’s checkout may set cookies for security and fraud prevention. Those companies’ own policies apply to them.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies and site data. Blocking strictly necessary cookies stops sign-in from working. Clearing site data for theautocap.cc also deletes the video files saved for your projects on that device, so keep your original files.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we add, remove or change cookies, and the date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects what we ask your consent for, we’ll ask again.
